§ Hilary BennDFID has recently committed £1.5 million to programmes of assistance to refugees in Guinea. In response to the UN's Consolidated Appeal for Guinea for 2004, we have provided £500,000 to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for care and assistance of Liberian refugees, and £500,000 to UNICEF for a primary health care project aimed at refugees and other vulnerable populations. In addition, we have contributed £500,000 to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) 2004 Appeal for assistance to vulnerable populations, including refugees, in Guinea.
