§ Beverley HughesAs set out in "Identity Cards: The Next Steps" (Cm 6030), disclosure of information held on the National Identity Register would only be authorised in specific circumstances. Such disclosure would be subject to legal and procedural safeguards and independent oversight. There are no plans to authorise disclosure of information from the National Identity Register to overseas organisations.
