HC Deb 16 March 2004 vol 419 c207W
Mr. Hancock

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make it his policy to ratify and implement the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women Optional Protocol. [160903]

Mr. Rammell

The Government are currently reviewing the United Kingdom's position in relation to a number of international human rights instruments. This review includes the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women which allows the right of individual petition. We will announce the outcomes of the review to Parliament as soon as is reasonably possible.
