HL Deb 09 March 2004 vol 658 c161WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, given that the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit estimated in its interim analytical report on alcohol-related harm of September 2003 that 35 per cent of all accident and emergency attendance and ambulance costs are alcohol-related, they will ask hospital authorities to keep records similar to those used in that estimate, so that the effects of changes in national policies for reducing alcohol-related harm can be effectively monitored. [HL1613]

Lord Warner

The Government's alcohol harm reduction strategy is currently under development. Monitoring will be considered as part of this development work.
