asked Her Majesty's Government:

When the European Commission will be able to confirm that all the new member states are compliant with the minimum training requirements for doctors, nurses and dentists as set out by European directives. [HL1617]

All accession states are committed to ensuring that the qualifications they award to doctors, nurses responsible for general care and dentists who begin their training on or after the date of accession meet specified minimum requirements. It is for the European Commission, which is closely monitoring their progress. to see that these obligations are met. They intend to update member states shortly.
