§ Mr. Mike O'BrienGlobalisation affects our manufacturing and service industries in many ways. It offers great opportunities and benefits as well as tough challenges. Globalisation must not be something to which we respond passively: instead we must actively shape it to meet people's needs, in Britain and abroad.
The impact of globalisation and our appropriate policy response will be a key theme of the White Paper on Trade and Investment, which will be published in the summer.
