HC Deb 01 March 2004 vol 418 c738W
Mrs. Curtis-Thomas

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what strategies are in place to deal with(a) accommodation, (b) healthcare and (c) activity for elderly prisoners. [155253]

Paul Goggins

The Prison Service does recognise its duty to care for older prisoners and seeks to meet all their needs, including, medical and any special accommodation requirements, according to individual circumstances. Establishments that are holding older prisoners have developed local strategies and there are a number of excellent initiatives being adopted across the estate.
