HC Deb 23 June 2004 vol 422 c1460W
8. Colin Burgon

To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what guidance he issues to local authorities on planning permission requirements for mobile advertising sites along major road routes. [179836]

Phil Hope

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister does give guidance to local planning authorities on the control of outdoor advertisements. Before giving their consent to an advertisement local planning authorities have to consider the amenity and public safety aspects. Advertisements which are likely to distract motorists on a motorway or trunk road are unlikely to be approved.
