To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Department for Constitutional Affairs how many appointments of Justices of the Peace for the Greater London area have been(a) men and (b) women in each of the last three years; and if he will make a statement. [178687]

The information is as follows:

  • In 2000–01 there were 87 men and 107 women appointed.
  • In 2001–02 there were 80 men and 81 women appointed.
  • In 2002–03 there were 68 men and 73 women appointed.
  • The figures for 2003–04 are not yet available.
