HC Deb 14 June 2004 vol 422 cc757-8W
Ann McKechin

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement regarding the operation of the National Asylum Support Service scheme in Scotland. [178164]

Mr. Browne

The National Asylum Support Service (NASS) scheme works very well in Scotland. As at the end of March 2004 there were over 5,000 asylum seeker sand dependants in NASS dispersal accommodation in Glasgow. The NASS regional office in Glasgow has 35 staff performing outreach, investigations and housing management functions, and playing a key role in working with Scottish stakeholders.
