HC Deb 22 July 2004 vol 424 c517W
Nick Harvey

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when she expects the Renewables Obligation Order review's findings will be published; what the parameters of the review are; and from whom it will take evidence. [185841]

Mr. Timms

We plan to publish our proposals on the scope and terms of reference of the review later this summer. We aim to complete the review itself by the end of 2005—this will include a statutory consultation on any proposed changes to the Obligation.

The Utilities Act requires us to consult a wide range of statutory consultees before any changes are made to the Order. Such consultees include the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority. The Gas and Electricity Consumer Council, electricity suppliers to whom the Order would apply and generators of electricity from renewable sources. Gauging the opinion of this range of consultees will enable us to seek views from a wide base.
