To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what the salary costs to the Department were for employees working in public relations and publicity in each year since 1997. [183857]

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) was created following the machinery of government changes on 29 May 2002.

The salary costs for employees working in the Office's Directorate of Communication were £2.627 million in 2002–03 and £2.751 million in 2003–04.
