§ Dr. LadymanAlthough the Department does not routinely collect information on the number of people diagnosed with dementia, there are an estimated 750,000 people with dementia in the United Kingdom, of whom around 400,000 have Alzheimer's disease (around 55 per cent.). Around 18,000 of the total number of people with dementia are aged under 65 years.
