asked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether their proposed legislation to create an offence of incitement to religious hatred will include provision to abolish the offence of blasphemy. [HL3671]

No decision has been taken about this. We will be considering the issue in the light of the report of the House of Lords Select Committee on Religious Offences (HL Paper 95–1), the Government's response to that report, and the subsequent House of Lords debate on 22 April 2004.
