How many badger and deer carcasses are collected from the roadside and tested by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' Wildlife Unit. [HL3393]

Since 1 March 2004, when the Wildlife Unit took over collection of badger carcasses from the roadside as part of the road traffic accident survey in Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Dorset, 403 carcasses have been collected, of which 331 have been tested.

The Wildlife Unit does not collect deer carcasses.
