To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what estimate the Department has made of the number of scheduled ancient monuments that have been damaged by(a) illicit metal-detecting and (b) looting in each of the last five years. [184647]

The DCMS does not keep statistics of this nature centrally. However, English Heritage is in the process of designing a system that will compile and record this type of information.
