HL Deb 12 July 2004 vol 663 c125WA
Lord Astor of Hever

asked Her Majesty's Government: What guidance is given to commanding officers in relation to administering summary justice in accordance with the Naval Discipline Act 1957. [HL3558]

Lord Bach:

The main sources of guidance available to commanding officers in relation to administering summary justice in accordance with the Naval Discipline Act 1957 are the Manual of Naval Law, A Guide to Discipline Reporting and A Guide to Summary Punishments. Training on Service discipline matters is provided incrementally throughout an officer's career. Additionally, guidance is also available from a Service legal adviser who is always contactable.
