asked Her Majesty's Government:

Further to the Written Answer by the Lord Filkin on 15 June (WA 63) whether he lay, judicial and legal professional members of the community in the Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission will be reflective of the community in Northern Ireland by each category as well as a whole; and how the Lord Chancellor will achieve this for the commission as a whole when he has no control over the nomination of the judicial and legal professional members. I refer the noble Lord to the Answer I gave on 17 June 2004, (Official Report, col. WA 86).

The statutory duty under Section 3(8) of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 as amended is placed on all those making nominations and appointments to the Judicial Appointments Commission.
