HL Deb 01 July 2004 vol 663 c38WA

Lord Avebury asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will make any further efforts, either bilaterally or through the European Union, to persuade the government of Ethiopia to accept the decision of the Ethiopia-Eritrea Boundary Commission, in accordance with the undertaking they gave when the commission was established. [HL3309]

Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean: The UK, bilaterally and with European Union partners, will continue to press Ethiopia to accept the Boundary Commission decision, which is final and binding, and press Eritrea to participate in the comprehensive political dialogue proposed by the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy.
