To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions how many appeals against refusal to grant the(a) care and (b) mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance were made in each year since 2000; how many were allowed in each year; and if he will make a statement. [150022]

The Secretary of State has asked me to reply to your question regarding the number of appeals against refusal to grant the (a) care and (b) mobility component of the disability living allowance were made in each year since 2000 and how many were allowed in each year.

The attached tables show the figures for the years 2000–2003. I hope this reply is helpful.
