§ Miss Melanie JohnsonNo specific targets were set in the Chief Medical Officer's new action plan, "Winning Ways—Working together to reduce Healthcare Associated Infections", launched on 5 December 2003. We will monitor implementation through the national health service performance management system, strategic health authorities and the mandatory surveillance system.
