HC Deb 25 February 2004 vol 418 c467W
Mr. Chaytor

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills what resources are available under the Children Act 1989 for local authorities to care for child victims of trafficking; and if he will make a statement. [152341]

Margaret Hodge

It is for local councils to decide the level of resources they allocate to services for children in their area, including the child victims of trafficking.

Overall the local government settlement has increased resources for Children's Social Services from almost £3.7 billion in 2003–04 to just over £4.0 billion in 2004–05. This provides for an increase in total resources of some 8.7 per cent, overall.
