HL Deb 01 December 2004 vol 667 c7WA
Baroness Greengross

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How widely the drug Aimspro is available in the National Health Service to treat sufferers of multiple sclerosis. [HL75]

Lord Warner

The treatment Aimspro is not licensed for use in the United Kingdom and, therefore, will not be widely available in the National Health Service. A specialist neurologist who wished to prescribe the treatment on a named-patient basis would need to agree funding with the appropriate primary care organisation and make a special arrangement with the manufacturer.
