To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport (1) what sums have been agreed between the BBC and Ofcom in respect of the carrying out by Ofcom of its functions in relation to the BBC, under section 198 (4) of the Communications Act 2003 for the financial year 2004–05; [166825]

(2) what sums have been agreed between Ofcom and (a) the BBC and (b) the S4C Authority in respect of the carrying out by Ofcom of its functions in relation to the Authority under section 207(6) of the Communications Act 2003 for the financial year 2004–05. [166826]

The matter raised is the responsibility of the Office of Communications (Ofcom) as independent regulator. Accordingly, my officials have asked the Chief Executive of Ofcom to respond directly to my hon. Friend. Copies of the Chief Executive's letter will be placed in the Libraries of both Houses.
