The Special Immigration Appeals Commission is a superior court of record pursuant to Section 1(3) of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission Act 1997 as amended by Section 35 of the Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001. The amendment to the status of the commission took effect from 13 December 2001.
