HL Deb 06 April 2004 vol 659 c220WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How they believe a meeting between the Eritrean authorities and the United Nations Secretary-General's special envoy might contribute towards the acceptance by Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi of the Eritrea-Ethiopia Boundary Commission's decision on delimitation of their common border. [HL2131]

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean)

The UN Secretary-General has asked his special envoy to explore with both parties the ways in which the Algiers agreement and the decision of the Boundary Commission can be implemented. We are giving the special envoy's mission our full support.
