HC Deb 15 September 2003 vol 410 c603W
Sir Teddy Taylor

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the amount of savings certificates and savings deposits issued through the Post Office which are unlikely to be claimed or cashed. [128877]

Ruth Kelly

We estimate that there is a potential £710 million forgotten or unclaimed funds held in matured Savings Certificates, and £525 million forgotten or unclaimed deposits held in savings accounts (where no transactions have been made in the last five years).
