To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many people were diagnosed as suffering from tuberculosis in(a) 2002, (b) 2000, (c) 1998, (d) 1996 and (e) 1994. [127431]

Statutory notifications to the Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre of the Health Protection Agency show that the number of people diagnosed with pulmonary and non-pulmonary tuberculosis in England and Wales for the years mentioned are shown in the table.
