Mr. Chope

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what the cost is for renewal of a British passport at the British High Commission in Harare; and what the cost was on(a) 1 January 1997, (b) 1 January 2000 and (c) 1 January 2003. [135030]

Mr. Mullin

The fee charged by any British Diplomatic Mission to issue a standard adult passport is currently £56.50. The fee has previously been set at:

  1. (a) 1 January 1997—£18.00
  2. (b) 1 January 2000—£49.00
  3. (c) 1 January 2003—£54.40

The fee recovered would have been the local currency equivalent of the above sterling amounts.
