577WOrigin labelling rules are agreed at European Union level. The Government is not aware of any plans to introduce origin labelling rules for each constituent ingredient of food products. The Food Standards Agency is, however, actively pressing for changes to labelling requirements to improve information on origin of fresh and frozen meat and the meat ingredient in food products.
