HC Deb 07 October 2003 vol 411 cc74-6W
Mr. Hoban:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what research has been carried out into the impact of greater consultant involvement in post-operative care; and if he will make a statement. [129599]

Mr. Hutton:

The Department has not conducted any research on the impact of greater consultant involvement in post-operative care.

The Policy Research Programme ((PRP) has recently been asked to commission research on early warning scoring systems and outreach services for adult critical care; both of which can help improve experience and outcomes for patients with potential or actual need of critical care services. The PRP is liaising with the NHS
