HC Deb 07 October 2003 vol 411 c168W
John McDonnell

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills if he will make a statement on the impact of Reshaping in the Learning and Skills Councils on the delivery of the organisations functions. [131733]

Alan Johnson

The Learning and Skills Council is undertaking a reshaping exercise which is designed to build on its existing strengths to enhance its capacity to work with partners to develop and to implement the strategies necessary to achieve national targets for skills and learning, while streamlining routine administrative arrangements. The reshaping programme will not damage the LSC's ability to deliver. It will improve the organisation's overall efficiency and effectiveness. The reshaping programme is a matter for the Learning and Skills Council, and I have therefore asked Mark Haysom, the council's chief executive, to write to my hon. Friend with further information. A copy of his reply will be placed in the Library.
