HC Deb 20 November 2003 vol 413 c1158W
Huw Irranca-Davies

To ask the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Department for Constitutional Affairs, if he will make a statement on the impact of(a) the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and (b) human rights legislation on disclosure of information from hearings under which access is restricted owing to Crown Property immunity from prosecution. [133075]

Mr. Leslie

Consideration is being given to the issue of the State's immunity from criminal proceedings. Both the Government's consultation paper on the reform of the law on involuntary manslaughter, in May 2000. and 'Revitalising Health and Safety' in June 2000, contained proposals for removing or modifying that immunity.

In the light of the responses to those publications, an inter-departmental working group was established. My noble Friend. the Under Secretary of State, Lord Filkin. will write to the hon. Member when further infomation is available.
