§ Mr. AlexanderOn 19 June 2003, the Civil Contingencies Secretariat published a revised third edition of Dealing with Disaster and a draft Civil Contingencies Bill which establishes a new framework for civil protection against the challenges of the 21st century. The draft Bill is currently being considered by a Joint Committee of both Houses. The Secretariat continues to improve the resilience of the United Kingdom to disruptive challenges through working with others to anticipate, assess, prevent, prepare, respond and recover.
