HC Deb 19 November 2003 vol 413 c1013W
Paul Farrelly

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills what recent reports he has received on the percentage of students attending university whose parents were graduates; and what trends they demonstrate. [139638]

Alan Johnson

In 2002 36 per cent. of 18 year olds in higher education had at least one parent with a degree (Youth Cohort Study Cohort 10 sweep three). The table shows that the trend over time appears to be reasonably flat.
