§ Mr. RammellWe saw various press reports and received the views of the NGO community at the time of President Uribe's comments of 11 June. We do not believe it productive to enter into a public debate on these comments. It is more important to continue to underline the need for the Colombian Government to 767W implement their commitments as set out in the London Declaration concerning respect for the rule of law, human rights and international humanitarian law when tackling the problems it faces. I made this point when 1 met the Colombian Foreign Minister in New York on 23 September 2003.
