To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many fixed penalty notices were issued in relation to speeding offences captured by(a) mobile speed cameras and (b) fixed speed cameras in each year since 1997. [138358]

Available data on the number of fixed penalty notices issued for speeding offences detected by camera in England and Wales from 1997 to 2001 (latest available) are given in the table. 2002 data will be available in the New Year. Data by type of camera device used are not collected centrally.
