To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how much the Department spent on(a) maintenance, (b) renovation, (c) council tax and (d) running costs of residential properties used by Ministers and officials in each year since 1997. [134690]

The amount spent on residential properties for Ministers and officials for the 2002–03 financial year is as follows:

Notes

1. The running costs are those paid by the Department to the Cabinet Office in respect of the capital charge and the costs for utilities, the Whitehall District Heating System, security and facilities management.

2. The figures are subject to final audit.
