To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many textile and clothing companies there are in(a) the United Kingdom and (b) Scotland. [137352]

In December 2001 there were 124,000 employee jobs in the textile industry in the United Kingdom, of which 12,000 were in Scotland.
