To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people held in Her Majesty's Prisons(a) are non-EU foreign nationals, (b) are seeking leave to remain in the United Kingdom and (c) have been a United Kingdom resident for less than 10 years. [136425]

At 30 April 2003, the population in Prison Service establishments in England and Wales who were known to be non-EU nationals was 4,513.

Information on the number seeking leave to remain in the United Kingdom or the number who have been a United Kingdom resident for less than 10 years is not held centrally.
