Taking the 512,400 civil servants employed in the year to April 2003 as the baseline, by what numbers they expect the size of the permanent Civil Service to rise in each of the years (a) 2003–04, (b) 2004–05 and (c) 2005–06. [HL4972]

Forecast staffing numbers are 529,500 in 2003–04; 525,200 in 2004–05; and 519,400 in 2005–06.
