Ms Rosie Winterton

Information on the levels of compliance for the clinical negligence scheme for trusts, as at 31 March 2003, published by the Commission for Health Improvement has been placed in the Library.

Chris Grayling

To ask the Secretary of State for Health which NHS hospital trusts(a) do and (b) do not have a current risk management/quality control system in place. [132384]

Mr. Hutton

All national health service trusts have risk management and internal control systems in place.

As part of statutory reporting, chief executives are required to sign a statement on behalf of their board to the effect that they have reviewed the effectiveness of the system of internal control. This statement is published in the annual report and accounts of every NHS organisation.
