§ Hilary BennDFID recognises that more needs to be done to assist ECOWAS and its member states to combat small arms problems in West Africa. Currently the department is not funding ECOWAS in this area, but it is planning to meet with other donors and with the ECOWAS Secretariat in the forthcoming months to discuss the issue in more detail.
