§ Mr. Bob Ainsworth[holding answer 16 May 2003]: Waiting times for residential rehabilitation and the other main types of treatment services in all Drug Action Team (DAT) areas are regularly monitored by the National Treatment Agency (NTA). Waiting times for the treatment of heroin addiction are not recorded separately from waits for other drug problems.
The latest available figures are taken from the DAT Annual Returns submitted in April 2003 and reflect the position in December 2002. Initial analysis indicates that average longest waiting time for residential rehabilitation was 7.1 weeks.
The following table sets out the waiting times for the main types of treatment in each DAT area.
