The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister will shortly be publishing a white paper setting out our proposals for the future of the Fire Service, and will include measures to make the service more attractive to groups who are currently seriously under represented in the workforce, including women who currently account for 1.7 per cent, of firefighter posts.
