To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make a statement on plans for a national patient database, referred to in the strategy document, Developing NHS Direct. [110818]

§ Mr. Lammy
The creation of a national patient database will allow NHS Direct nurses to handle calls from patients from any part of England and thus will help make best use of NHS Direct resources.
