To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made of whether the terms of UN Resolution 43/173 of 9 December 1988 are being observed in Guantanamo Bay. [110813]

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what reports he has received on whether detainees at Guantanamo Bay are being treated in accordance with the terms of UN resolution 43/173 dealing with the body of principles for the protection of all persons under any form of detention or imprisonment; and if he will make a statement. The US has said that the detainees at Guantanamo Bay are being treated humanely and consistently with the principles of the Geneva Conventions.

None of the UK detainees in Guantanamo Bay are under 16. The question of juveniles detention at Guantanamo Bay will be part of the regular dialogue between the UK and US Governments on the detainees.
