Notes:

Coverage:

Figures reflect education SSA settlement figures (primary sub-block), plus all revenue grants in DfES's Departmental Expenditure Limits relevant to pupils aged 5–10 (excluding EMA and a handful of others where it is not possible to get figures on a comparable basis over time).

The pupil numbers used to convert £ million figures to £ per pupil are the maintained pupils underlying the SSA settlement calculations. 1997–98 figures for LEAs subject to Local Government Reorganisation in that year have been estimated, pro-rata to their post LGR figures.

Status:

2002–03 figures are provisional.

Price Base:

Real terms, 2001–02 prices, based on GDP deflators as at December 2002

Rounding:

Figures are rounded to the nearest 10. Totals may not sum due to rounding.
