To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what consultations with Government the Food Standards Agency undertook before embarking on the GM public debate. [100864]

§ Mr. Meacher
The Food Standards Agency announced its plans to involve consumers in debating issues related to GM food last July and has kept both Government and the Public Debate Steering Board fully informed of progress since then.
