To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many animals are used by customs and excise authorities in the UK, broken down by species. [100368]

As at 28 February 2003, HM Customs and Excise had a total of 56 animals of the speciescanis familiaris (dogs), including those in service, training and planned replacements. No other species of animal is used.
